Xinjiang¡¯s Outward Power Transmission Tops 60 Billion kWh in 2026

2026-6-11

According to Xinjiang Power Trading Center Co., Ltd., as of May 26, Xinjiang¡äs cumulative outward power delivery reached 60.14 billion kilowatt-hours this year, including 19.39 billion kilowatt-hours of power generated from new energy sources, accounting for over 32.2%. It has contributed robust momentum to national energy security and the green and low-carbon transition across the country.

As a national base for three major energy production hubs and one power transmission corridor, as well as a strategic guarantee base for national energy resources, Xinjiang boasts abundant wind, solar and coal resources and serves as a core power supplier for the West-to-East Power Transmission initiative. In recent years, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company has leveraged UHV DC transmission channels to deliver clean electricity in large volumes over long distances with high efficiency, effectively translating local resource advantages into national energy security strengths.

Since the start of this year, Xinjiang¡äs outward power transmission has maintained a sound momentum with steady growth in total volume, a rising share of green power and an expanding service coverage. In the first quarter, Xinjiang sent out 40.008 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, a year-on-year increase of 23.42% and a record high for the same period in history. Its power supply network covered 23 provincial-level regions nationwide, with power delivered to the eastern Inner Mongolia power grid for the first time, further extending its transmission reach. In the second quarter, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Company optimized power grid dispatching by accurately matching power generation characteristics with cross-regional power demand, and steadily improved the accommodation and outward transmission capacity of new energy. New energy has become the main driver of growth in Xinjiang¡äs outward power supply.

The large-scale cross-regional power transmission from Xinjiang has effectively eased power shortages in central and eastern China and balanced the national power supply and demand. Meanwhile, it has delivered remarkable ecological and environmental benefits. Calculations show that the 60.14 billion kilowatt-hours of transmitted electricity have cut carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 15.84 million tons, equivalent to planting more than 700 million arbor trees. This strong progress helps all regions achieve the national dual carbon goals and facilitates the joint improvement of regional atmospheric environment.
