Lubei Chemical announced on March 7 that its wholly-owned subsidiary Shandong Xianghai Titanium Resources Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xianghai Technology") plans to invest 719 million yuan to build an expansion project with an annual output of 60,000 tons titanium dioxide using chloride process.

The project plans to expand the 60,000 tons/year titanium dioxide using chloride process plant within the existing plant area, relying on the existing buildings, installation equipment, and supporting public auxiliary facilities. It will add 172 sets of new equipment and build a new 20,000 tons/year electrolytic hydrochloric acid chlorine production plant, mainly including chlorine compression workshop, chlorine cooling and drying workshop, tail gas treatment workshop, electrolysis workshop, transformer/rectifier station, hydrochloric acid tank area, hydrochloric acid pretreatment workshop, etc., adding 35 sets of new equipment.

The announcement shows that the construction period of Xianghai Technology′s 60,000 tons/year titanium dioxide using chloride process expansion project is 24 months, and the investment payback period (before tax) is 5.62 years.
