Tianjin Binhai New Area Kicks off the Restart of Projects with a Total Investment of 587.1 Billion

2024-3-7

Recently, Tianjin Binhai New Area held the kick-off event for the restart of key projects in the first quarter of 2024. A total of 449 key projects are to be restarted this time, with a total investment of 587.1 billion yuan, covering various fields such as new energy, new materials and other advantageous industries, emerging industries, modern service industries, and infrastructure. Among these restarted projects, 232 belong to the "8+8+8" modern industrial category, accounting for 52%. The accelerated construction of these projects will further promote the high-end, intelligent, and green transformation of industries in Binhai New Area, and further accelerate the development of advantageous industries, strategic emerging industries, and modern service industries.

The first-phase project of Zhonghuan Information Group¡äs photovoltaic cell manufacturing located in the northern part of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City is designed to produce 8GW of high-efficiency N-type TOPCon photovoltaic cells annually. The project will create jobs for 1,400 people, retain local talents, and also attract high-end and external professional photovoltaic technology talents to settle in Tianjin, providing talent support for technological innovation and key technology research in Tianjin Binhai New Area.

In the modern industrial park of Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, the first phase of the Guangdong Hongtu Automotive Lightweight Smart Manufacturing North China Base has been receiving much attention. This project covers a construction area of 41,923 square meters and is dedicated to the production of automotive powertrain systems as well as new energy automotive products. Upon completion and commencement of operations, the project will be capable of producing 12,000 tons of various precision aluminum alloy die-casting parts annually. It will inject fresh energy into the optimization and upgrading of the entire automotive industry chain in Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, as well as strengthening the industrial chain and expanding the industrial cluster of Tianjin¡äs automotive industry.

Against the global background of achieving carbon neutrality, the layout of the hydrogen energy industry has become a key development direction for the future transition to a low-carbon economy. Located in the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, the Air Liquide Tianjin Hydrogen Energy Supply Base project covers an area of 72,000 square meters. Once the first phase of the project is completed, its annual production capacity will reach 3,000 tons. Together with the Tianjin Bohai Chemical Hydrogen Production Station that has already been put into operation in the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, the annual hydrogen production in the region will exceed 4,600 tons in the future, which is expected to meet about 70% of the demand in Tianjin. In the later stages of the project, liquid hydrogen production will also be arranged. When all the production capacities are reached, the overall production capacity is expected to exceed 13,000 tons. Besides meeting the supply of hydrogen for vehicles, it will further accelerate the development of the regional hydrogen energy industry and become the largest hydrogen energy supply base in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
