Industrialization of Two High-end Fluorinated Polymers by Jusheng Fluorochemistry

2024-3-14

Recently, Zhejiang Jusheng Fluorochemical Co., Ltd. passed the expert evaluation of provincial-level industrial new products for the development of ETFE and peroxide vulcanized medium resistant perfluoroether rubber for building membranes.

As a leader in China′s fluorosilicon industry, Zhejiang Jusheng Fluorochemistry Co., Ltd. is not only a national high-tech company and a provincial specialized and innovative enterprise, but also a demonstration model of intellectual property rights in China′s petroleum and chemical industry. It serves as a national fluorine material engineering demonstration base, with innovation platforms such as the Xitriwei Fluorine Materials Research Institute and postdoctoral workstations. In recent years, relying on the innovation platform and internal and external empowerment, the company has developed a number of new products, such as peroxide vulcanized fluororubber, ethylene tetrafluoroethylene copolymer, fusible polytetrafluoroethylene, PTFE resin for coaxial cable and PTFE lotion for non stick coating. Besides, it is credited with more than 30 invention patents, many of which have won patent awards in China′s petrochemical industry and fluorosilicon industry.

ETFE membrane began to be applied in the field of architecture in the early 1980s. The construction of the Beijing Olympic Water Cube Sports Center made ETFE membrane widely known in China. Boasting flexible and versatile architectural design and excellent stress characteristics, it has become one of the most popular materials in the architecture sector. ETFE for building membranes is a binary copolymer of ethylene and tetrafluoroethylene. With its highly balanced physical, chemical, and electrical properties, outstanding mechanical, optical properties, and ease of melting and processing, it has been seen as a new favorite of high-tech materials in the construction field. The ETFE for building membranes developed by Jusheng Fluorochemical adopts solvent method to solve the issues of poor product stability, high difficulty and cost in industrial production of strong exothermic and high viscosity systems. By adjusting the polymerization conditions, precise control of the structure and molecular weight distribution of ETFE resin materials for membranes can be achieved, bringing ETFE resins with uniform quality, stability, and excellent film-forming processability, mechanical and optical properties.

Peroxyvulcanization medium resistant perfluoroether rubber is a special type of fluororubber co-polymerized with tetrafluoroethylene, perfluoromethyl vinyl ether, and fluorinated vulcanization point monomers. Perfluoroether rubber contains a large number of ether bonds. Instead of being a part of the ordinary fluoroelastomer series, it is a separate variety of elastomer polymers, commonly known as the "rubber king". The unique monomer sequence structure of perfluoroether rubber gives it unparalleled high temperature resistance, medium resistance, oxidation resistance, and elastic properties, making it widely used in high-end fields such as national defense, military industry, aerospace, etc. In combination of software such as Gaussian and Mathematica for chemical simulation, Jusheng Fluorochemical developed peroxide vulcanized medium resistant perfluoroether rubber to achieve the design of multi-component copolymerization formula and homogeneous distribution of additives, improving the overall performance stability of the product. Compared with ordinary fluororubber, the product embraces more excellent properties such as medium resistance and high temperature resistance.
