  Successful Trial Run of Battery Grade Lithium Hydroxide Project in Minmetals Salt Lake

Recently, the pilot project of Minmetals Salt Lake Co., Ltd., located in Yiliping District, Mangya City, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with an annual production capacity of 1000 tons of battery grade lithium hydroxide, has successfully achieved testing of the facility loaded with feedstocks. The key technology and product involved - "Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis" is created by Hangzhou Lanran Technology Co., Ltd.

Featuring "bipolar membrane electrodialysis", the project adopts lithium rich brine prepared by the adsorption section in the pre-treatment workshop of lithium carbonate pilot plant with an annual output of 1000 tons as feedstocks. The lithium hydroxide solution is prepared using bipolar membrane electrodialysis equipment, and then evaporated and crystallized for the battery grade lithium hydroxide product.

After its completion, the project is expected to increase the capacity scale of lithium salt and enrich the variety of lithium products. It can not only promote the development of China′s lithium battery material industry, further enhance China′s independent research and production capacity in the field of lithium battery materials and reduce dependence on imported materials, but also enhance the local industrial scale and employment opportunities and boost the economic development of Yiliping area in Qinghai.

Lithium hydroxide prepared by bipolar membrane boasts the characteristics of high product purity, high device capacity, low energy consumption, small feedstock flow, clean production and no secondary pollution.
